PSU-Abington is going dancing AGAIN!!

The Penn State Abington scored twice in the first half and never looked back to claim its second-straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men’s Soccer Championship with a 2-1 win over Lancaster Bible on Sunday afternoon.

Penn State Abington took an early lead when Sebastian Krysztofowicz (Doylestown, Pa.) put in a rebound to give the host team a 1-0 advantage at 13:26. Just over a minute later, Lancaster Bible was whistled for a foul to give the Nittany Lions a penalty shot opportunity. Jose Palomeque (Upper Dublin, Pa.) converted the opportunity for the eventual game-winning goal to make it a 2-0 game, which would hold for the remainder of the first half. Palomeque was named Tournament Most Valuable Player with two goals and an assist on the weekend.Lancaster Bible cut the deficit to 2-1 at 57:07 on a goal by Rusty Risteen (Derry, N.H.) but the Chargers were unable to find a way to tie it up. Chargers’ goalkeeper Jake Deterline (Altoona, Pa.) recorded nine saves in the loss while Lancaster Bible ends the year at 12-7-1.

The Nittany Lions outshot the Chargers, 19-9, and finished the day with an 8-2 edge in corner kicks. Penn State Abington’s Esteban Leon (Miami, Fla.) made three stops to earn the win in goal.

Penn State Abington takes a 14-5-1 overall record into the 2018 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament.
